About the role

  • Regional Sales Manager driving revenue growth through sponsorships at The Texas Tribune. Focusing on the Austin and Waco markets to develop advertising strategies and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and contact potential sponsors and advertisers, including corporations, foundations, associations, and government agencies across the state of Texas
  • Create compelling and customized sponsorship and advertising proposals that meet the specific needs and objectives of each client
  • Manage the entire sales process, including needs assessment, proposal development, negotiation and closing
  • Provide accurate forecasting weekly, monthly and quarterly
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Attend and engage the community at various events held throughout Texas
  • Collaborate closely with various internal teams, including Marketing and Communications, Events and newsroom leadership to ensure seamless execution of sponsorship and advertising agreements
  • Consistently meet or exceed key performance metrics and goals on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
  • Act as an ambassador for the Tribune, promoting our mission and values to potential partners and donors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • At least three years of experience in sales, preferably in media advertising or sponsorship sales
  • Proven track record of successfully closing deals and exceeding revenue targets
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of the Texas business and political landscape
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable in an intense and high-growth entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the state; valid driver’s license required
  • Online sales/business development experience in a digital media environment (i.e. publisher or agency) is preferred
