Regional Sales Manager driving revenue growth through sponsorships at The Texas Tribune. Focusing on the Austin and Waco markets to develop advertising strategies and client relationships.
Responsibilities
Identify, research, and contact potential sponsors and advertisers, including corporations, foundations, associations, and government agencies across the state of Texas
Create compelling and customized sponsorship and advertising proposals that meet the specific needs and objectives of each client
Manage the entire sales process, including needs assessment, proposal development, negotiation and closing
Provide accurate forecasting weekly, monthly and quarterly
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, acting as a trusted advisor
Attend and engage the community at various events held throughout Texas
Collaborate closely with various internal teams, including Marketing and Communications, Events and newsroom leadership to ensure seamless execution of sponsorship and advertising agreements
Consistently meet or exceed key performance metrics and goals on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
Act as an ambassador for the Tribune, promoting our mission and values to potential partners and donors
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
At least three years of experience in sales, preferably in media advertising or sponsorship sales
Proven track record of successfully closing deals and exceeding revenue targets
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Strong understanding of the Texas business and political landscape
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously
Proficient in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)
Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable in an intense and high-growth entrepreneurial environment
Ability to travel occasionally throughout the state; valid driver’s license required
Online sales/business development experience in a digital media environment (i.e. publisher or agency) is preferred
