About the role
- Senior Financial Accountant managing financial reporting and accounting activities for operations in Auckland. Collaborating closely with Finance Manager and supporting statutory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Finance Manager on a range of accounting activities, with a strong focus on financial reporting.
- Support the annual audit process and assist with preparing statutory accounts for NZ.
- Oversee the month‑end close, including preparing and reviewing journals for accruals, provisions, and intercompany transactions.
- Complete reconciliations between Xero and our newly implemented SAP finance system.
- Ensure strong internal controls are followed across all financial processes.
- Lead the balance sheet reconciliation process.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly reconciliations, resolving variances, and recommending improvements.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and enhance financial processes.
- Assist with other ad‑hoc finance tasks as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CA (Chartered Accountant) or equivalent certification is advantageous.
- Proven experience in financial accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights for stakeholders.
- Proficiency with financial systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- SAP experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to perform well in a fast‑paced environment.
