Responsibilities
Leads the strategic planning, design, direction and implementation of clinical improvement and quality management programs and initiatives for the system managing hospital quality and patient safety teams across locations.
Programs include one or more areas relating to clinical process transformation, quality outcomes measurement and reporting, infection control, accreditation and licensing, patient experience and safety, clinical documentation improvement, quality data abstraction and analytics, and/or medical staff services.
Leads efforts to standardize and deploy evidence-based, patient centered clinical practices and processes to achieve full integration with electronic health records and to optimize clinical outcomes.
Aligns programs with initiatives and strategic priorities, develops effective mechanisms for monitoring and reporting quantifiable quality measures, and ensures affiliates and programs are in continuous survey readiness.
Requirements
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Nursing, Healthcare Quality, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or related field. or equivalent education/experience
CPHQ-Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality
15 years of recent relevant experience.
Working knowledge of healthcare delivery/clinical care management and healthcare quality standards/measures (e.g., healthcare effectiveness data and information set (HEDIS), leapfrog, hospital consumer assessment of healthcare (HCAHPS), national committee for quality assurance (NCQA), national surgical quality improvement program (NSQIP).
Working knowledge of performance/process improvement methodologies (e.g., lean/six sigma, pdsa, rapid cycle).
Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements for healthcare organizations (e.g., The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), California Dept of Public Health (CDPH), Accreditation Assn for Ambulatory HealthCare (AAAHC), Title 22, Department of Health Services (DHS), Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).
Familiar with national quality organizations (e.g., Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)) and associated quality recommendations and measurement guidelines.
Knowledge of current trends and issues impacting the healthcare industry.
Strategic skills for reviewing processes and strategies to ensure successful alignment with business needs and for identifying improvement opportunities.
