About the role
- Engineer III in North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality coordinating stormwater regulations and ensuring compliance with state transportation projects. Conduct field investigations and assist in maintaining quality certification.
Responsibilities
- Review and provide guidance on stormwater regulations as they pertain to transportation projects
- Coordinate with DWR staff to ensure compliance with NCDOT’s Highway Stormwater permit requirements
- Conduct field investigations that may require exposure to inclement weather, insects, hot and cold temperatures, and traversing rough/uneven terrain
- Assist with 401 Water Quality Certification application review during high workload periods
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid NC Driver's License required; must be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire and maintain for employment
- Professional Engineer licensure/Engineer Intern certification is considered an asset
