Junior Technology Consultant with Stantec designing various building technology systems for numerous commercial and residential projects. Supporting project delivery while gaining hands-on experience and technical skills in the industry.
Responsibilities
Assist with the design of building technology systems, including pathway drawings, low-voltage device layouts, telecommunications outlet plans, system riser diagrams, and technical specifications
Support the design of systems such as:
Video surveillance and electronic security systems
Structured cabling and data network systems
Paging and telephony systems
Wireless, audiovisual, and distributed antenna systems
Nurse call and real-time location systems
Work with project team members to understand project requirements and design constraints
Assist in preparing design and construction documentation
Coordinate designs with other engineering and design disciplines under supervision
Assist with the preparation of tender drawings and specifications
Participate in site visits, on-site assessments, and meetings as required
Support senior staff by performing technical tasks, documentation updates, and design revisions
Learn and apply Stantec and client standards through design reviews and feedback.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
1–2 years of relevant experience in building technology, low-voltage systems, or related design environment
Basic knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards
Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) TIA, BICSI, and ASIS standards
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Good verbal communication and technical writing skills
Experience with Revit or a strong willingness to develop proficiency.
