About the role

  • CFO directing financial operations and strategic leadership at Springboard, a charitable organization supporting community development. Responsible for financial management, compliance, and team mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to support the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Lead and manage budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, accounting standards, and financial policies.
  • Oversee audit processes, internal controls, and risk management systems.
  • Direct capital project financing and housing development funding strategies.
  • Lead IT and Facilities functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, funders, and external auditors.
  • Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate and recommend system enhancements or new tools to improve efficiency
  • Enhance financial reporting and dashboards to support data-driven decisions
  • Engage in regular budget reforecasting, including updates on actuals against budgets in order to identify potential slippage or overspending
  • Report to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial performance and strategic issues
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support procurement, contracts, and financial modeling for new initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline is an asset
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
  • Minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in the non-profit or public sector preferred.
  • Proven success in managing large budgets, capital financing, IT systems, and housing development.
  • Experience with compliance, board reporting, and strategic planning
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • High level of judgement, discretion, and professionalism
  • Proficiency in financial software, Excel, and enterprise systems
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders, funders and stakeholders
  • Proven track record in government relations, partnership building, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the proven ability to plan, develop and execute creative approaches to complex financial issues.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strategic thinker with an execution-focused mindset
  • Ability to speak French is an asset.
  • Experience in the non-profit, social services sector.
