About the role

  • Student Assistant supporting community engagement for SOS Mediterranee in Berlin. Involvement in volunteer coordination, social media content creation, and event organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support in coordinating volunteer groups and projects, as well as onboarding new volunteers
  • Support in establishing new volunteer groups
  • Participate in organising events, activities and campaigns
  • Respond to enquiries about participation opportunities at SOS MEDITERRANEE
  • Conceptualise and create social media content and online posts about the volunteer programme’s activities in collaboration with the communications team
  • Support the expansion of the organisation’s network and respond to stakeholder enquiries
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and provide additional support for special events or during periods of increased workload

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled student, preferably in social sciences, humanities or communication studies
  • Interest in humanitarian issues and migration policy, and identification with the mission and values of SOS MEDITERRANEE
  • Some experience in organising events and/or working with volunteers (through personal volunteering or e.g. an internship)
  • Excellent German and English language skills and communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Affinity for social media
  • Willingness to attend evening (and occasionally weekend) appointments in coordination with colleagues, e.g. for volunteer meetings and events
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
