About the role
- Student Assistant supporting Community Engagement for the humanitarian organization SOS MEDITERRANEE. Working in a young team to coordinate volunteer projects and support community actions in Berlin.
Responsibilities
- Support in coordinating volunteer groups and projects, as well as onboarding new volunteers
- Support in establishing new volunteer groups
- Contribute to organizing events, activities and campaigns
- Respond to inquiries about participation opportunities at SOS MEDITERRANEE
- Conceptualize and create social media content and online posts about the volunteer program’s activities in collaboration with the communications team
- Support the expansion of the organization’s network and respond to stakeholder inquiries
- Assist with general administrative tasks and provide additional support for special events or during periods of increased workload
Requirements
- Currently enrolled university student, preferably in social sciences, humanities, or communication studies
- Interest in humanitarian issues and migration policy, and alignment with the mission and values of SOS MEDITERRANEE
- Some experience in organizing events and/or working with volunteers (through personal engagement or e.g., internships)
- Excellent German and English language skills and communication abilities, both written and spoken
- Strong interest in social media
- Willingness to attend evening (and occasionally weekend) meetings or events in coordination with colleagues, e.g., for volunteer meetings and events
- Willingness to undertake occasional business trips
