About the role

  • Student Assistant supporting community engagement for SOS MEDITERRANEE's humanitarian rescue efforts in the Mediterranean. Involves coordination of volunteers and social media content creation.

Responsibilities

  • Support in coordinating volunteer groups and projects, including onboarding new volunteers
  • Support in establishing new volunteer groups
  • Assist in organizing events, actions and campaigns
  • Respond to inquiries about participation opportunities at SOS MEDITERRANEE
  • Conceptualize and create social media content and online posts about the volunteer programme’s activities in collaboration with the communications team
  • Support the expansion of the organisation’s network and respond to stakeholder inquiries
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and provide additional support during special events or periods of increased workload

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a university programme, preferably in social sciences, humanities or communications
  • Interest in humanitarian issues and migration policy and alignment with the mission and values of SOS MEDITERRANEE
  • Some experience in organising events and/or working with volunteers (through personal volunteering or, for example, an internship)
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills in German and English
  • Affinity for social media
  • Willingness to participate in evening appointments (and occasionally weekend appointments) in coordination with colleagues, e.g., for volunteer meetings and events
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
