About the role
- Construction Design Lead ensuring compliance with CDM regulations at Hinkley Point C. Supporting design process and mitigating health and safety risks in construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the design process across all phases of construction projects, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Identify and mitigate design-related health and safety risks from the earliest stages.
- Supporting multidisciplinary design teams, supporting design deliverables in line with project timelines, ensuring design outputs are technically sound, buildable, and aligned with client requirements.
- Support the integration of digital tools such as BIM, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and ensure clear communication of design information to construction teams.
- Coordinate input from architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure cohesive and integrated design solutions.
- Chair regular design team meetings and workshops to drive progress and resolve design issues.
- Identify and eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks during the design stage.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Construction & Project Management within the Nuclear or Engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding and implementation of CDM Regulations and Risk Management Processes.
- Proven experience in managing employer’s requirements and aligning them with project goals.
- Experience with NEC – DMIC - FIDIC contracts and client liaison.
- Formal qualifications in Construction Management or Engineering (e.g., a degree/HND or ONC in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management).
- Chartered status or membership with a recognised engineering institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE, CIOB).
- Evidence of right to work in the UK.
