Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Program Director, Surgery and Ambulatory Care, this position is responsible for the leadership and management of an in-patient surgery unit.
- The scope of the role includes inspiring others, effectively managing financial and human resources, overseeing clinical operations, promoting excellence in patient care and advancing team effectiveness and efficiency in a multidisciplinary Professional Practice Model.
- The manager is also expected to support and implement evidence based practices and continuing process improvements to meet unit, program and organizational goals.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with a commitment to continuing education with membership in relevant professional association, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 3-5 years’ supervisory/managerial experience, including managerial accountability, in a Health Care Environment
- Minimum 5 years’ surgical nursing experience as well as experience in Endoscopy and Outpatient clinics
- Effective computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to accomplish objectives through others.
- Demonstrated skills in change management, project management and human resources management
- Demonstrated ability to utilize lean methodology tools to enhance the programs performance
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, control and evaluate management activities and to function in a self-directed but collaborative way
- Strong business and financial management experience
- Thorough understanding of utilization management and benchmarking
- Evidence of planning, analytical and organizational experience
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record
- Ability to work well independently, perform the essential duties of the position and to exercise sound judgement
