About the role
- Senior Accountant managing core financial processes for Red Oak. Collaborating with Controller and CFO to build an in-house accounting function.
Responsibilities
- The Senior Accountant will help scale Red Oak’s accounting function and take ownership of core financial processes as we transition from an outsourced model to a fully in-house operation.
- This is a high-impact, individual contributor role that touches everything from revenue recognition and general ledger accounting to audit support, reporting, and tax system administration.
- This role will partner closely with the Controller, CFO, and cross-functional teams, and play an essential role in building a best-in-class accounting function that supports data-driven decisions and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Hands-on Sage Intacct ERP experience required
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes
- Direct experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606), preferably in a B2B SaaS startup environment
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits
- Experience administering sales tax systems (Avalara preferred)
- Experience supporting SaaS or B2B products.
- Exposure to Fresh Desk/Zendesk or Client support workflows.
- Experience transitioning accounting from outsourced to in-house
- Experience working with Salesforce
- Bill.com
- Ramp or similar spend management tools
- Public accounting experience as an auditor
- CPA or CPA-eligible

- Coordinate responses with auditors and external advisors
- Document and improve accounting policies and procedures
- Avalara & Tax Systems
- Own day-to-day administration of Avalara sales tax system
- Maintain nexus, tax code sets, and filing calendars
- Partner with external tax advisors on questions and filings
- Process & Systems Improvement
- Be a Sage Intacct power user and help optimize workflows
- Support integrations across Salesforce, Bill.com, and Ramp
- Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and strengthen the accounting stack
