Senior Director leading medical strategies for International Developed Markets and LATAM in Internal Medicine and Primary Care. Collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure aligned global medical positions.
Responsibilities
This position assumes a leadership role within Internal Medicine (IM) and Primary Care (PC) in International, in International Developed Markets (IDM) and LATAM.
He/she reports to the International Medical Lead Internal Medicine & Primary Care and collaborates closely with the scientific experts in IM and PC, with country colleagues and with regional and global stakeholders.
He or she is the accountable Point of Contact assigned geographic regions, priority markets and clusters for IM&PC.
This role also includes triage, advise and sound expertise in and understanding of the IM&PC portfolio consisting of CV/Cardiometabolic, Migraine, Obesity, Antiviral, Pipeline Assets and global brands portfolio.
A significant focus of the role will be on collaboration with countries to provide strategic input by ensuring an aligned global medical position on scientific and medical issues in IM&PC.
Likewise, the role compiles and assesses country insights, input and feedback and is responsible to share with the scientific International, IDM and LATAM experts and/or the Global category teams.
This will be achieved by close exchange between global, international and local medical functions, but also with other stakeholders as appropriate (e.g. commercial office, international medical leadership team members, public affairs & patient advocacy, health & value, content and education teams) and by coordinating work and strategies where appropriate with external stakeholders.
He/she is the medical counterpart and closely collaborates with the assigned geographic colleagues in the International Commercial Office and/or EMCO.
S/he collaborates and partners closely to contribute to successful implementation of medical strategies, clinical research (country prioritization), new product planning, launch execution, management of inline and tail products.
He/she will also focus on ensuring excellence with respect to medical quality and compliance as well as professional external relations.
Requirements
Candidate demonstrates leadership experiences (direct and/or matrix) and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers; oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
The candidate should have an advanced degree or understanding for the internal medicine portfolio.
Understanding of clinical development, medical communications, regulatory, clinical and pharmacovigilance environment in IDM.
Specific qualifications will include: MD, Pharmacist or PhD degree with clinical, academic or research experience.
Medical Affairs experience in areas related to Internal Medicine portfolio.
MD: with proven relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Pharmacist or PhD: with extensive experience in medical affairs or related field, in a local, regional, or global team.
Experience in a leading medical affairs position in country (e.g. Country Medical Director/Lead, IM&PC Director/Lead) and/or prior international or global experience as strong preference.
Familiarity with International and European regions and their regulatory environment.
Sound knowledge of the key International and European regulations in product approval, promotional conduct, safety reporting, and clinical research and good understanding of the various health environments.
Able to understand medical and safety aspects of IM & PC assets, experience in medical communication and stakeholder management.
Understanding global strategies and how to translate global strategies to specific country needs.
Ability to discuss scientific aspects of asset development, including IM & PC related commercial and regulatory issues.
Able to review, evaluate, interpret, and present clinical and epidemiological data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of publication processes.
