About the role
- Finance and Loan Assistant assisting with loan servicing, accounts payable, and borrower applications. Working under the guidance of the Controller and Senior Lending Officer in a hybrid setup.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service internally and externally by assisting with loan servicing, accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Assisting with audit workpaper preparation.
- Assisting borrowers with submitting applications and due diligence for new loans.
- Work under the guidance of the Controller and Senior Lending Officer.
- Maintain accurate financial and loan records.
- Post receipts, disbursements and other transactions to ensure integrity of controls and timely and accurate completion of monthly account reconciliations.
- Review and track commercial loan documents and assure all original documents are received and uploaded to Network.
- Organize invoices, payments, loan records and monitor accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintain servicing of new loans on mortgage accounting software for the life of loan (posting payments, disbursements, and managing the process for updating account records).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business; in lieu of a degree, good working knowledge of, and previous experience in commercial mortgage lending and loan servicing procedures.
- A clear understanding of or a deep commitment to learning the nuances of church building loans (vs loans by traditional banks and other lenders); the products and services tailored to church borrowers, and the needs, challenges, and opportunities in the field of church-owned real estate.
- Strong work ethic exhibiting a sense of urgency in completion of tasks and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload and remain motivated and positive.
- Well organized and detail-oriented, and exceptional time management.
- Willingness to take appropriate initiative for the effective operation of the Fund.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with excellent proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to perform within a collaborative team-oriented office.
- Commitment and sensitivity to the variety of local church traditions and cultural and ethnic backgrounds represented in the United Church of Christ.
- Clear understanding of the need for confidentiality.
- Enjoys working collaboratively with a team and willingly assists staff in performing other servicing-related duties as requested and assigned.
