Responsibilities
support the engineering team with 3D modeling system layouts
proposal design solutions
customer negotiations that influence Size, Weight, and Power
lead and engage with a team of creative, independent individuals
contribute to the development of new products through consulting with customers and sales personnel
prepare successful proposal designs and concepts, along with cost and schedule estimates
validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses
mentor junior systems packaging engineers
analyze, conceptual design, development, and test of complex control hardware used on military/space vehicles and equipment
determine customer’s needs, system architecture based on component layouts, analysis approaches and project management processes
support subsections of the overall system engineering responsibilities
occasional travel to support customer meetings and business development needs
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering with 4+ years design/drafting experience
An associate degree in mechanical engineering/technology with 15+ years’ experience drafting/design is acceptable
Ability to travel 10%
Demonstrated ability in packaging electrical and mechanical components, Assemblies, Connectors, and cables, including design, integration and validation in environments including avionics or space
Able to complete drawings including tolerance stacks and tolerancing for MFG Engineering fundamentals with the ability to understand and guide analyses and offer solutions related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical systems. Types of analysis include thermal, structural, and dynamic.
Familiarity with packaging electrical components, mechanical components, as well as sizing torque
Knowledge to contribute and lead design for assembly/manufacturing discussions with the team
