About the role

  • HVDC Valves Site Lead Engineer supervising a team for installation and maintenance of HVDC Valve Solutions. Requires mechanical engineering expertise and travel for GE projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of engineers/technicians and/or subcontractors for the installation, pre-commissioning, and maintenance of HVDC Valve Solutions
  • Travel to customer sites on a regular basis
  • Coordinate valve site activities and report to the HVDC office on progress and results
  • Lead mechanical work and electrical testing work done on site
  • Participate in the work of updating technical documentation
  • Plan for projects and prepare the necessary works (tools & equipment, spare parts, documentation)
  • Report on the progress of work
  • Carry out quality monitoring and traceability of works
  • Perform all administrative tasks related to the position
  • Ensure security and strengthen EHS culture of all stakeholders in accordance with GE policies
  • Maintain the Valve Delivery Project Plan
  • Participate in Valve Engineering Gate Reviews and Engineering Design Reviews

Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical understanding of general electrical engineering
  • Significant experience in mechanical/electrical (maintenance field)
  • Team supervision experience
  • Experienced in working in Live HV environments
  • Good knowledge of safety and the environment
  • Willing and able to frequently travel globally (including off shore / sea platforms) for extended periods of time, often at short notice
