About the role

  • Investment Associate analyzing and evaluating private equity primary investments at Pathway. Collaborating with talented professionals in a hybrid role based in Irvine, California.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the initial pre-screening of new primary investment opportunities
  • Organize the due diligence process from initial evaluation through close which includes meeting with investment managers (in person and/or virtually) overseeing and conducting various quantitative analyses coordinating with investment managers, placement agents preparing comprehensive investment memos and reports presenting recommendations to Pathway’s investment committee and select clients
  • Oversee investment analysts on a variety of deal teams to ensure quality of work and due diligence timeliness
  • Assist in the post-close monitoring process including reviewing investment manager quarterly and annual reporting packages
  • Participate in update meetings with managers in person and virtually
  • Writing and production of monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports for Pathway clients
  • Analysis of client portfolio performance
  • Preparation of client presentations
  • Attendance and participation in client meetings and presentations
  • Assist with special primary-related research and reporting projects

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a private markets primary investment role, preferably with an allocator or an institutional investor
  • Extensive knowledge of the private equity asset class with experience in private equity primary investment underwriting
  • Excellent business writing (reports, memos, communications), presentation, and research skills
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage to deadlines, and coordinate effectively with team members, both junior and senior
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to proactively take on tasks and work independently
  • Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data, and add own judgment to the investment process
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with software applications such as MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Undergraduate degree required with a record of high academic achievement.
  • MBA or CFA (or progress toward either) is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for meetings with both investment managers and clients.
