About the role
- Senior Engineer managing large-scale MS SQL Server clusters while transitioning to .NET environment for high-performance API development. Engaging in infrastructure automation and ensuring data integrity in payment systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain large-scale, self-hosted MS SQL Server clusters (up to 90TB) hosted on AWS EC2.
- Execute routine maintenance, OS patching, and security updates, utilizing failover and switchover procedures to ensure zero downtime during narrow maintenance windows.
- Manage complex schemas, stored procedures, and replication logic, ensuring that all changes are versioned, documented, and reversible.
- Use your experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to manage and automate cloud environments.
- Transition into the .NET backend stack, contributing to the development of high-performance APIs and services that interface with our core payment systems.
- Monitor and optimize database performance (CPU, Disk I/O, Blocking Queries) to ensure low-latency processing for massive data volumes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend development or database administration, with a focus on high-availability systems
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals, including stored procedure versioning, transaction scopes, and cluster management (Failover/Failback)
- Practical experience managing self-hosted instances on EC2 and RDS; familiarity with serverless architectures (Lambdas)
- Strong desire to learn or deepen your knowledge of .NET/C#
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and a commitment to high code coverage and performance benchmarking
- The importance of manual verification and 'two-sets-of-eyes' when modifying production financial data
