About the role
- Software Systems Engineer working on SD-WAN portfolio for Open Systems. Involved in software and systems improvements, ensuring network performance, availability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Work on improving our SD-WAN portfolio which is the foundation of Open Systems' global network operations
- Be involved in projects from their concept phase all the way through to deployment and operations
- Build services that improve the performance, availability, and security of our customers' networks without the need for human intervention in the following areas: Next-Generation Firewall, Traffic Identification, Traffic Reporting
Requirements
- Higher education (ETH, university, FH) with a degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Understanding of networking technologies and protocols (e.g. firewalls, dynamic routing, TCP/IP, ...)
- Experience with Linux or UNIX-based operating systems
- Experience in software engineering with scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl) and concurrent compiled languages (e.g. Go, Rust, C)
- Proficiency in English
- Practical experience in Go, Python, Perl or Bash (bonus)
- Experience with the Linux Netfilter framework (bonus)
- Experience with cloud platforms and technologies (e.g. Kubernetes) (bonus)
- Experience or interest in eBPF for networking, security, or performance optimization (bonus)
- Knowledge of network security concepts and practices (bonus)
- Familiarity with agile development cycles (bonus)
