About the role

  • Technical Engineer applying expertise in nuclear safety and complex problem resolution in various technical fields. Leading development and implementation of safety documentation at Savannah River Site.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields.
  • Use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and complex features into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
  • Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience.
  • A MS degree and 12 years' experience.
  • A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
  • Knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
  • Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1, DOE STDs 3009, 1186, 1189 and related directives and standards.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules, while meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Must perform work safely and be proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments.
  • Area Security Access: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
