About the role

  • Strategic Sourcing Agent role for Oakland County handling supplier management and procurement decisions. Collaborating with departments to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Source, identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure we obtain high-quality goods and services at the best balance of cost, quality, and value.
  • Administer complex and high-dollar solicitations (typically $1M or more) while ensuring full compliance with County purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Lead negotiations to secure favorable contract terms that support both operational needs and long-term countywide strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance, mitigate potential risks, and stay informed about market trends to enhance efficiency and strengthen decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to County departments by helping define specifications, establish evaluation criteria and pricing matrices, facilitate evaluations, and guide the solicitation and award process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in business administration, Supply Chain Management, public administration, or closely related field of study.
  • At least six (6) years of full-time work experience in a purchasing department.
