About the role
- Accountant providing financial accounting expertise and support to Nitrogen and Phosphate operations. Involves month end close processes, cost accounting, and internal controls support.
Responsibilities
- Act as part of a team that is responsible for providing financial and operations accounting expertise to support plant accounting functions
- Become subject matter expert for processes included in your role which may include complex agreements
- Complete and improve month end close processes
- Participate in automation and process improvement projects
- Verify the proper accumulation of product flows through our production areas and verification of month end accumulations and reporting (OPM)
- Perform raw material and finished product cost accounting
- Understand, identify and implement required internal controls, including certification reporting, audit responses and SOX controls
- Participation in the physical asset verification process
- Ensure Balance Sheet Accounts are effectively analyzed and managed
- Complete Capital Project and Fixed Asset Accounting
- Prepare moderate and high-risk account reconciliations and journal entries
- Other related duties as required
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field, with a professional accounting designation or working towards
- 3+ years of experience
- Experience working in a plant environment is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Accounting/financial concepts and principles
- Understanding of GAAP/IFRS applications in a business environment
- Experience with large ERP systems, preferably Oracle
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data base tools such as Power Query
