About the role

  • Accountant supporting division-level accounting activities at Nucor Steel Decatur, focusing on financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support month-end close processes and preparation of financial reports
  • Assist with internal control compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Analyze financial data, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based tools to support reporting and data analysis.

Requirements

  • 4-year B.S. Accounting/Finance; will consider other relevant degrees
  • Computer Skills – Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Products
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Accounting experience in a manufacturing company (preferred)
  • 2 or more years of steel industry experience (preferred)
  • Oracle, EIS or GL Connect Experience (preferred)
