About the role
- Project Accountant managing financial performance of multiple commercial construction projects in Surrey, BC. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance while ensuring accurate project financials.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit monthly progress draws, coordinating the full billing process
- Manage project accounts receivable and payable, including receipt tracking and payment coordination
- Review and code project costs to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Review and process subcontractor billings, ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Maintain and manage trade partner compliance documentation
- Communicate regularly with Project Managers, subtrades, suppliers, and internal teams
- Prepare monthly project cost reports, budget reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Assist with project cost and revenue forecasting
- Support substantial completion and project close-out activities
Requirements
- 5+ years of project accounting experience in commercial construction
- Strong working knowledge of construction accounting principles and the Builders Lien Act
- Procore experience is required (must-have)
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance would be an asset
- Experience with Acumatica would be an asset
