Responsibilities
- Collaborating with and providing strategic counseling to law department colleagues, business partners, and management on a wide range of complex IP issues
- Applying expertise in government contract IP matters, commercial transactions, software and other IP licensing, managing global patent and trademark portfolios, protecting information, and managing IP enforcement actions
- Developing understanding of Company and Sector’s business, products and technologies relating to electronics and software
- Providing thought leadership, driving development and implementation of enterprise-level strategic IP initiatives
- Monitoring developments in policy, legal and regulatory requirements in IP and advising leadership and business partners on best practices
- Developing and conducting enterprise-wide training on IP topics
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field
- Active state bar membership and registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- At least 8 years’ IP experience in a law firm, government, or as in-house counsel
- Experience in IP-related transactions and negotiations, and/or protecting and enforcing IP rights including patents, trade secrets, data, software, trademarks, and copyrights
- Experience working closely with other lawyers, technologists and business leaders on IP issues
- U.S. citizenship required. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
