About the role
- Junior Network Engineer role focuses on network infrastructure design and deployment for a telecommunications company. Collaborate with project managers and engineers while supporting customer solution delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and configure network infrastructure solutions as part of project delivery
- Support the implementation of routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN technologies across multi-vendor environments
- Assist with remote builds, staging, and deployment of customer solutions
- Work closely with project managers to deliver projects on time, ensuring technical requirements are met
- Perform testing, validation, and documentation of deployed solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project implementation
- Participate in change activities, including out-of-hours work where required
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project outcomes
- Produce and maintain build guides and handover documentation
Requirements
- Strong technical foundation in networking or IT infrastructure
- CCNA qualification or equivalent (e.g. Juniper or similar certification) is highly desirable
- Hands-on or lab-based experience with routing and switching technologies
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS / IOS-XE and enterprise networking hardware
- Understanding of Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree)
- Understanding of Layer 3 technologies (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRFs)
- Exposure to firewalls and security appliances (configuration, upgrades, policies)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret technical designs and translate them into build/configuration tasks
- Good communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
