About the role

• Serve as a trusted advisor for MYOB’s financial services. Collaborate across teams to shape and deliver modern financial solutions in Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal advisor for MYOB’s financial services and payments products across Australia and New Zealand
• Advise on financial services law and regulation (including AFSL/ACL, credit, lending, payments and superannuation)
• Prepare, assessing and negotiating a range of financial services and commercial contracts
• Collaborate with product and commercial teams on new products and features
• Work closely with risk and compliance teams on regulatory change, incidents and audits
• Brief and collaborate with specialist external counsel on complex financial services issues
• Manage broader commercial and technology matters as part of a small, high‑performing in‑house team
• Contribute to templates, playbooks and AI‑enabled workflows that streamline deal cycles

Requirements

• Tech‑savvy and commercially minded, comfortable partnering with product, tech and data teams
• Strong judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with commercial considerations and great customer outcomes
• An excellent communicator who builds trust quickly, influences senior stakeholders and translates complexity into clear, practical advice
• Adaptable and proactive, thriving in fast‑paced environments and confident making well‑reasoned decisions with imperfect information
• Dynamic, innovative and collaborative, with a genuine drive to improve how things are done and to share knowledge with others
• Admitted to practise in Australia (New Zealand admission a bonus)
• Proven experience in corporate, commercial or financial services law (start‑up or scale‑up experience is a plus)
