About the role
- Maintenance Manager overseeing contracting program for district and local inspection contracts in Florida's transportation system. Liaising with engineers and managing complaints regarding structures maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the unit's contracting program
- Serve as the project manager on district and local inspection contracts
- Review design plans
- Serve as a liaison between engineers, supervisors, local government officials, other state agencies, and private citizens regarding all structures maintenance matters
- Perform contract administration duties
- Research, analyze and develop new and innovative approaches to contracting the maintenance needs of the unit
- Attend project meetings and perform field reviews
- Ensure complaints are handled tactfully and efficiently
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED
- 24 months experience in bridge inspection, bridge repair, bridge or highway construction, and/or bridge or highway design
- Must obtain certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) – Advanced level within one year and maintain it.
- Knowledge of current maintenance operations, activities, rules and policies
- Knowledge of engineering design, construction and maintenance concepts
- Skilled in administering and managing multiple projects
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze engineering and technical data and plans/specification packages
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to monitor Maintenance/Construction projects to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, rules and regulations
