Responsibilities
Process Discovery and Mapping: Lead workshops and interviews with tax professionals and operational staff at all levels to elicit, understand, and document the current 'as-is' business processes across our tax service lines. Create detailed process maps and workflows where none currently exist.
Analysis and Opportunity Identification: Critically evaluate current state processes to identify bottlenecks, pain points, redundancies, and key areas for improvement. Quantify the potential impact of these inefficiencies in terms of time, cost, and risk.
Solution Design and Business Case Development: Design optimised 'to-be' processes that leverage technology and streamlined workflows. Develop robust business cases for proposed changes, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and risk assessments for investments in automation, AI, and other technology solutions.
Requirements Elicitation and Management: Translate business needs into clear, unambiguous, and testable requirements, including functional and non-functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Stakeholder Management and Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Tax Partners, Directors, the wider tax team and those involved in delivering tax services across the firm, as well as central IT, digital transformation, and data analytic teams. Ensure buy-in and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of market trends and proactively identify emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning, data analytics platforms) that could benefit the tax division. Lead on vendor/tool selection and proof-of-concept initiatives.
Implementation and Change Management: Support the implementation of new processes and technologies, including coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), developing training materials, and delivering training. Act as a change champion to embed new ways of working and new technologies within the team.
Benefits Realisation: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the success of transformation initiatives. Monitor and report on benefits realised using data analysis and visualisation tools against the original business case, ensuring accountability and demonstrating value.
Requirements
A professional Business Analysis qualification is desirable (e.g., BCS Diploma in Business Analysis).
Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) is desirable.
Proven experience leading process mapping and re-engineering projects from discovery to implementation.
Experience working within a professional services firm, financial services institution, or a large corporate finance/tax department is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
Focused on delivering tangible outcomes and measurable value.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Excel, Process mapping, AI optimisation, RPA and data visualisation tools (Power BI and Visio).
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation from process mapping data.
Exceptional stakeholder management, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the confidence to effectively communicate and engage with senior leadership.
Experience in change management, a natural curiosity to identify new opportunities and driving the adoption of new processes and technologies.
Familiarity with a range of business analysis and process improvement methodologies.
Able to navigate challenges and changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
