About the role

  • Business Development Advisor for Mitacs, facilitating collaboration between UQTR and private sectors. Focused on enhancing quality programs and partnerships for innovation development.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with members of the Business Development, Research and Program teams at Mitacs to propose and deliver high‑quality programs;
  • Collaborate closely with UQTR stakeholders to understand the needs of researchers and students, identify industry opportunities and determine which programs best leverage identified research opportunities;
  • Build and maintain a network of partners and clients in the private and postsecondary sectors;
  • Present Mitacs’ various programs to companies and non‑profit organizations;
  • Introduce companies to UQTR researchers;
  • Provide support to the Business Development team as needed;
  • Provide business development support for all Mitacs programs as needed;
  • Provide business development support and assistance with student participation at UQTR;
  • Work collaboratively with UQTR offices responsible for administering Mitacs programs, such as the Partnerships and Innovation Support Service, the Office of the Vice‑President, Research and Development, the Office of the Dean of Research and Creation, the Office of International Relations, and others to ensure clarity of roles among the parties involved in administering Mitacs;
  • Plan strategically and operationally to increase participation in Mitacs programs;
  • Promote opportunities through University channels and other communication channels;
  • Contribute to negotiating agreements necessary to facilitate discussions and collaborations between the University and partner organizations.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree recently completed (one to two years), preferably at UQTR, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and energy.
  • Team spirit.
  • Creativity and a willingness to innovate.
  • Interest in pursuing a career outside of the research and postsecondary sectors.
  • Ability to work in a high‑performance, fast‑paced environment.
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who have an active social network and a proven ability to promote program participation and sponsorship within their community.
