About the role
- Senior Financial Manager overseeing financial operations and reporting in finance organization. Collaborating with teams to enhance financial processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts
- Develop and maintain financial reporting frameworks and systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
- Take ownership of the group reporting requirements within a JSE listed environment
- Take the lead in managing internal and external audit requirements
- Manage and lead the Accounts Receivable Manager
- Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and systems
- Streamline and optimise financial workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Implement best practices and standardised procedures across the finance department
- Drive process automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and enhance productivity
- Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets
- Monitor and analyse actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts
- Foster effective communication and collaboration between the finance department and other functional areas
- Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and provide guidance
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organisation
- Manage tax-related audits and inquiries
Requirements
- Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent with 2+ years’ managerial experience in a finance role, preferably within the audit or education/related industry
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Income Tax Act
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- In-depth understanding of tax compliance
- Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, implement automation solutions, and improve operational efficiency
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders
- Good leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
