Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts
Develop and maintain financial reporting frameworks and systems
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
Take ownership of the group reporting requirements within a JSE listed environment
Take the lead in managing internal and external audit requirements
Manage and lead the Accounts Receivable Manager
Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and systems
Streamline and optimise financial workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy
Implement best practices and standardised procedures across the finance department
Drive process automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and enhance productivity
Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets
Monitor and analyse actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts
Foster effective communication and collaboration between the finance department and other functional areas
Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and provide guidance
Ensure compliance with tax regulations
Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organisation
Manage tax-related audits and inquiries
Requirements
Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent with 2+ years’ managerial experience in a finance role, preferably within the audit or education/related industry
Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Income Tax Act
Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
In-depth understanding of tax compliance
Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, implement automation solutions, and improve operational efficiency
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders
Good leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
