About the role

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting frameworks and systems
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
  • Take ownership of the group reporting requirements within a JSE listed environment
  • Take the lead in managing internal and external audit requirements
  • Manage and lead the Accounts Receivable Manager
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and systems
  • Streamline and optimise financial workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Implement best practices and standardised procedures across the finance department
  • Drive process automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and enhance productivity
  • Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets
  • Monitor and analyse actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between the finance department and other functional areas
  • Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and provide guidance
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organisation
  • Manage tax-related audits and inquiries

Requirements

  • Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent with 2+ years’ managerial experience in a finance role, preferably within the audit or education/related industry
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Income Tax Act
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • In-depth understanding of tax compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, implement automation solutions, and improve operational efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders
  • Good leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
