About the role

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting frameworks and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Take ownership of the group reporting requirements within a JSE listed environment.
  • Take the lead in managing internal and external audit requirements.
  • Lead and manage the Accounts Receivable Team.
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and systems.
  • Streamline and optimise financial workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement best practices and standardised procedures across the finance department.
  • Drive process automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and enhance productivity.
  • Assist with the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor and analyse actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop meaningful financial metrics to track business performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between the finance department and other functional areas.
  • Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and provide guidance.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and contribute financial expertise to drive successful outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations. Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organisation. Manage tax-related audits and inquiries.

Requirements

  • Qualified CA(SA) with 3+ years’ experience in a finance leadership role, preferably within the education or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Income Tax Act.
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of tax compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, implement automation solutions, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing finance team.
