About the role

  • Develop PVC matrices for coated fabrics at Michelin in Clermont-Ferrand, focusing on innovation from formulation to prototyping in advanced research.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Polymer Composite Solutions team, you develop the PVC matrices used for membranes and coated textiles.
  • Design innovative materials by integrating structure, properties and material–process interactions.
  • Formulate and prototype new PVC matrices at lab and pilot scale.
  • Adapt and develop equipment in collaboration with process teams according to design needs.
  • Characterize, model and leverage AI to accelerate understanding and optimization of materials.
  • Monitor developments, capture and consolidate knowledge, and contribute to intellectual property strategy.
  • Manage external collaborations (research laboratories, industrial partners…) to strengthen internal research.

Requirements

  • Degree in polymer process engineering, polymer physico‑chemistry, materials science or plastics engineering.
  • ≥ 3 years’ experience in formulation, characterization and implementation of PVC, ideally for membranes or coated fabrics.
  • Proficiency in associated processes: coating, extrusion, calendering.
  • Strong understanding of the link between process and product properties.
  • Knowledge of interface science, adhesion or eco‑design is a plus.
  • Experience in the coated fabrics sector is an additional asset.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (minimum B2 level required).
