Structures Design Technician responsible for creating drawings and design layouts for bridge components. Collaborating with engineers and ensuring compliance with quality standards in a team environment.
Responsibilities
Utilize computer software to create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts
Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities
Participate in and ensure QC/QA procedures are followed
Maintain accurate design standards and procedures in assigned work
Cooperate and coordinate with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
One year certificate from college or technical school or six months to one year related experience and/or training
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred
English language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Organizational skills: ability to prioritize and organize tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
