Responsibilities
The Project Manager leads and coordinates New Generation Services (NGS) projects from early conceptual development through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start‑up, performance testing, initial operations, and contract close‑out.
This role provides leadership to build and maintain a high‑performing project team and holds full accountability for project execution, ensuring delivery in accordance with contract requirements, quality and safety standards, and both Customer and Mitsubishi Power performance expectations.
Manage project execution either as the primary Project Manager of a project exceeding $50M or as Deputy Project Manager on larger projects or programs, ensuring delivery of all project outcomes.
Facilitate communication and reporting, providing clear project health updates to teams, stakeholders, customers, sponsors, and senior leadership.
Capture lessons learned, after‑action items, and prepare summary briefings as required.
Support risk, issue, and opportunity management by analyzing project contracts, identifying potential risks, and collaborating with leadership to develop and execute mitigation strategies.
Develop and manage financial baselines, including the project income statement, in coordination with estimating and cost control teams.
Provide ongoing cost reporting, variance analysis, and financial tracking.
Oversee creation and management of the integrated project schedule, including critical path analysis, resource allocation, and dependency mapping.
Track schedule performance, report progress, and assist teams with recovery planning when variances occur.
Lead scope expansion and change management, developing technical and pricing strategies for change orders, and creating execution plans aligned with LOA requirements.
Provide leadership across all project phases, using established program and project management methodologies, tools, and quality standards.
Manage team performance, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, and ensure effective change control across requirements, configuration, cost, schedule, and organization structures.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the Director of Project Management and contribute suggestions to improve NGS project execution and organizational effectiveness.
Engage in continuous professional development, staying current with project management best practices and promoting enhancements to organizational processes and PM maturity.
Monitor all project activities, including schedule adherence, spending, quality, and specification compliance.
Escalate issues impacting cost, schedule, or quality to the Director of Project Management.
Establish productive cross-functional partnerships, recognizing interdependencies and fostering cooperative working relationships across departments, vendors, subcontractors, and external organizations.
Lead and facilitate project status meetings with owners, representatives, vendors, and subcontractors.
Prepare and distribute meeting minutes documenting agreements, task assignments, and required follow‑up.
Conduct internal project team meetings, ensuring alignment on project information, expectations, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices, collaborating with Supply Chain Management when negotiation or adjustments are needed.
Prepare and submit change orders in accordance with Levels of Authority (LOA).
Manage the full project closeout process, including warranty submissions, affidavits, record drawings, retainage release, and all final accounting documentation.
Support resolution of claims, outstanding invoices, and change order reconciliation.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or similar technical field from four-year college or university
Four to six (4-6) or more years related experience in managing large power generation projects.
PMP certification is desired, but not mandatory.
Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
Travel to construction sites and work out of construction temporary offices is required on occasions.
