About the role

  • Risk Consultant acting as a mentor to a Portfolio Lead and supporting risk management frameworks at Davies Global Solutions in London.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a mentor and coach to a newly appointed Portfolio Lead – assisting in prioritising workload and training junior members of the team to enable upskilling.
  • Support the team during the 2026 ORSA process (given three experienced members of the team will have left at year end).
  • Assist in all aspects of risk management including challenging the risk management and controls within clients and supporting reporting to both client and Asta governance forums.
  • Support the newly reorganised Risk Team and through a period of growth and change.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge and expertise of all aspects of the ERM Framework and related reporting assumed (as outlined in points 2-8)
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to enable newly promoted portfolio lead to embed, including workload prioritisation, training the newer members of the team and Risk Managers, to improve efficiencies in the team in respect of ways of working.
  • To assist and support the CRO in managing the newly reorganised team and through a period of growth and change.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the risk framework, in liaison with other team members and the Head of Risk.
  • Provide feedback and improvement suggestions for the risk framework, to the Portfolio Leads and CRO.
  • Responsible for reviewing the identified risks and their ratings, providing suggestions and input.
  • Contributing to and facilitating risk workshops to identify and rate risks in clients.
  • Reviewing and assisting with drafting regular and ad hoc reporting for the client Assurance Working Group, Syndicate Boards and Committees.
  • Assist the CRO and Portfolio Leads in building and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant staff at Asta, to establish a strong risk culture.
  • Contribute to the development of the risk appetite statements and monitoring for clients and Asta entities, in line with the overall framework.
  • Assist in discussing breaches with Syndicates and documenting the reasons and actions required.
  • Oversee and support the maintenance of the Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for review at Committee and Board level, flagging exceptions for management action.
  • Prepare ORSA documentation for Syndicates and contribute updates to the ORSA framework for risk categories.
  • Contribute to and assist with the development of reverse stress testing (RST) for Syndicates, and provide challenge and input to overall approach for operational risk modelling and RST scenario testing.
