About the role

  • Risk Manager enhancing and maintaining Operational Risk Management Framework and Internal Control System at Piraeus Bank. Contributing to regulatory compliance and effective risk identification and assessment across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the enhancement and maintenance of the Operational Risk Management Framework and Internal Control System, including related policies, methodologies, and procedures.
  • Reviews Bank policies and procedures to ensure clarity, adequacy, and effectiveness of controls, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates and guides 1st Line of Defence (1LoD) Internal Control Functions in risk identification and assessment (RCSA), control testing, and cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Assesses operational risk exposure across business units and evaluate the effectiveness of the Internal Control System.
  • Validates risk identification and control assessment outcomes, exercising independent judgment and providing effective challenge where required.
  • Participates in ex-ante operational risk assessments (e.g. new products, ICT changes, outsourcing arrangements).
  • Supports incident and loss event analysis, including root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Contributes to the development and assessment of operational risk scenarios, including extreme but plausible events.
  • Performs independent evaluations of control design and operating effectiveness, and monitor remediation actions to address identified weaknesses.
  • Ensures adherence to data governance standards for operational risk data (RCSA, loss data, scenarios), in collaboration with the Data Governance Unit.
  • Prepares regular operational risk reports for internal Committees and Supervisory Authorities, including risk profile and risk appetite metrics.
  • Supports activities related to regulatory frameworks, supervisory requests, and disclosure requirements (e.g. ICAAP, Pillar III).
  • Collaborates with Internal Control Functions to design and enhance controls, strengthening the overall control environment.
  • Performs internal control activities within the Operational Risk Unit.
  • Supports subsidiaries in the implementation and consistent application of operational risk and internal control frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline
  • MSc in Finance, Risk Management, Statistics or related field will be considered as an asset
  • Min 5 years of banking experience in Risk Management or other control related functions
  • Strong understanding of :
  • o Operational Risk Management Frameworks (ORMF)
  • o Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) methodologies
  • o Internal Control Systems and the Three Lines of Defence model
  • o Regulatory frameworks (EBA Guidelines, DORA, Basel/BCBS principles)
  • o Outsourcing and third-party risk management
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CIA, ACCA, COSO) will be considered as an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
