About the role

  • Join McCarthy Tétrault as a Workday Analyst responsible for system administration and project support in the Canadian law firm. Collaborate with various teams to enhance HR processes using Workday technology.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a Workday SME and support the delivery of Workday projects and improvements across active modules (e.g., HCM, PATT, Talent & Performance, Learning, Advanced & Core Compensation, Integrations, Reporting, including required Security and Tenant Management).
  • Understanding system and process implications (conduct downstream system analysis), identifying gaps/opportunities, recommending and building scalable solutions best for McCarthy, including the maintenance of employee lifecycle processes and master data tables (such as organizational and job structures).
  • Working cross-functionally with HR, IT, Finance, and other teams to understand business needs, identifying user pain points, and translating these into requirements.
  • Supporting testing activities with stakeholders to ensure they sign off on their relevant modules, for example: partnering on the creation of test scenarios, supporting the execution of testing, fixing defects and escalating risks, to eventual delivery.
  • Supporting stakeholders and relevant team on change management and training activities such as documentation of process and system changes, drafting/updating communications and training guides (including system documentation and user guides).
  • Supporting Workday releases for responsible modules: review release notes, identify value-add functionality, execute testing and eventual enablement in production.
  • Ensuring data integrity within Workday and downstream systems through ongoing validation and audit processes and analyses.
  • Proactively identifying pain points and opportunities to improve the user experience, maximize automations, and ensure data integrity, compliance and governance.
  • Creating, maintaining and generating standard and custom ad-hoc reports and dashboards to stakeholders, to meet business needs.
  • Providing day-to-day support to HR, IT, Professional Resources system users as a part of Tier 2 HRIS support to develop user guides, troubleshoot and resolve issues/bugs, data fixes, in order to ultimately provide the best support and experience to our end users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred – particularly certifications(s) in any Workday module(s).
  • Minimum 3 years of Workday configuration experience in one or more of the following workstreams: HCM, PATT (Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking), Talent & Performance, Learning, Advanced & Core Compensation, Integrations, and Reporting.
  • Working knowledge of people processes and best practices, and a passion for aligning technology solutions to business goals and user needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of successfully navigating technical challenges and finding meaningful solutions that enhance our digital people experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills working with large data sets utilizing advanced formulas and functionality.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills and take the initiative for ongoing learning within Workday.
  • Demonstrates the qualities of a self-starter and the ability to take initiative to identify process improvements, manage issues, and resolve roadblocks independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management, project planning, and communication skills, both verbal & written.
