About the role

  • Mechanical Engineer/Designer overseeing mechanical design for data center projects at maincubes. Collaborating with teams to ensure efficiency and compliance with standards in data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • The Mechanical Engineer/Designer (m/f/d) is responsible for the mechanical design of maincubes projects.
  • This role combines technical expertise in designing, testing and optimizing mechanical systems.
  • As a subject-matter expert for mechanical system design, the role includes reviewing detailed technical specifications and calculations for all mechanical systems, taking regulatory standards into account.
  • Optimize the efficiency of mechanical systems to achieve maximum performance and minimal operating costs.
  • Responsible for the mechanical 'Base of Design' at maincubes.
  • Lead the mechanical scope across multiple development phases, including early development, design reviews and tendering.
  • Collaborate with the development team during pre-construction planning and the design phase.
  • Support the construction team during the build process in a design-support role.
  • Manage design consultants throughout the development process.
  • Integrate energy-optimization technologies and CO2-reduction strategies into designs and achieve optimal PUE targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Develop modular mechanical solutions, in particular prefabrication strategies to reduce construction time and costs.
  • Drive value-engineering solutions and proactively implement lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Expertise in planning and implementing mechanical systems for data centers
  • Experience modeling mechanical systems and using software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit and BIM platforms
  • Experience with CFD modeling software for simulation and optimization
  • Expertise in energy modeling systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of European environmental standards, EN and ASHRAE standards, ISO certifications and local building codes for mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and performance-optimization technologies
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to manage complex mechanical scopes across multiple concurrent projects
  • Preparation of detailed documentation, reports and technical reviews in compliance with all development stages
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors
  • Problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges
