About the role

  • Electrical Engineer at LyondellBasell providing maintenance leadership and instrumentation support for pipeline electrical assets. Role involves collaboration and oversight of electrical projects across facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the electrical technical lead for Pipeline maintenance and capital projects, including:
  • o Providing electrical engineering calculations, design, and specifications
  • o Reviewing design drawings and engineering specifications to ensure conformance with relevant company/industry standards and practices
  • o Interact with engineers and construction contractors, both on-site and off-site, to ensure adequate design and proper installation
  • o Ensuring Data Management Systems are updated accordingly (SAP, Documentum, Controlled Documents, etc.)
  • Support the operation and maintenance of electrical facilities at Equistar Pipeline sites
  • o Systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine asset maintenance strategies and task lists/work instructions
  • o Utilize predictive condition monitoring and other non-destructive testing methodologies to proactively identify potential reliability issues
  • o Apply value analysis to repair/replace/redesign decisions
  • o Support maintenance technicians with Electrical, Instrumentation and some Analyzer troubleshooting.
  • Apply analysis techniques to identify, prioritize, and resolve leveraging electrical standards and procedures
  • Steward the development, implementation, and maintenance of Equistar Pipeline electrical and instrumentation standards and procedures
  • Optimize preventative maintenance practices, and co-lead Reliability Improvement Teams to improve system reliability.
  • o Support the development of Obsolescence and Long-Range Plans, which include identification of Bad Actor equipment and development of mitigation plans
  • o Create Management of Change documents and lead evaluations for electrical and instrumentation reliability initiatives
  • Consult, assist, and/or lead incident investigations and troubleshooting activities
  • Provide training to others on new and existing electrical and instrumentation technologies
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, and participate in LYB teams and networks

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in Power Distribution within the pipeline and/or petrochemical industries required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of: industry codes such as NEC, ANSI/IEEE, API, NFPA, IEC, and their application; low and medium voltage switchgear/MCC design and operation; motors; UPS systems, and electrical system studies using SKM Power Tools software
  • Experience conducting Arc Flash Studies and implementing required mitigation techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Exhibit an understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflow
  • Self-directed with ability to work with minimal direct oversight; able to manage multiple/changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Some travel is required for this position
