About the role
- Structural Bridge Engineer supporting Transportation Practice at LJB engineering firm. Mentoring junior engineers and developing designs for bridge projects in Dayton, OH.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design.
- Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
- Have established working relationships with client technical staff and project managers.
- Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build bridge projects.
- Mentor junior engineers in developing final design plans.
- Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.
- Identify schedule and cost variances and develop recommendations for corrective action.
- Complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines.
- Actively participate in leadership positions in transportation related organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis
- M.S. degree in a relevant discipline (preferred)
- P.E. license (required)
- 10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience
- DOT bridge design experience
- Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation
- Relationships with DOT, municipalities (preferred)
