About the role
- Journeyman Cloud Operations Engineer maintaining cloud infrastructure across DoD organizations. Supporting DevSecOps and ensuring compliance with security requirements in a high-visibility program.
Responsibilities
- Support operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) across multiple security enclaves
- Perform system administration tasks including monitoring, patching, configuration management, and troubleshooting
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation processes
- Support DevSecOps pipelines by assisting with application deployment, integration, and monitoring
- Monitor system performance and availability, identify issues, and escalate as needed
- Support compliance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and STIG requirements
- Assist with asset management, backup, and recovery processes to ensure operational continuity
- Collaborate with DevOps, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to support integrated system operations
Requirements
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 4–8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2–6 years of relevant experience
- At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements: Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Basic System Administrator roles (e.g., Security+, Network+, A+, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cloud operations engineering or related field
- Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and private cloud platforms
- Experience developing and deploying systems via Infrastructure as Code
- Experience performing system monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration management tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
