Role Mission
As a Financial Product Manager for Bookkeeping, you’ll be part of shaping Kraken's global financial integrity. You will drive the strategy and development of our foundational ledgers and transaction systems, enabling Kraken to remain compliant and performant in existing markets and scale into new ones. Your mission is to build and enhance a robust, transparent and auditable bookkeeping system that ensures the accurate management of customer balances, simplifies regulatory compliance and accelerates client migrations.
Primary Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
Own and refine the long-term product vision for Kraken's core financial systems
Translate market needs, regulatory trends, client requirements and operational challenges into a clear product roadmap
Product Development & Delivery
Oversee development and improvement of core bookkeeping processes (e.g., ledger creation, transaction accuracy, reconciliation and auditability)
Define product requirements that strengthen data reliability, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance
Lead the development of high-value bookkeeping products (like the Credit Storage Ledger). Own the strategy and execution for the successful rollout and acceptance of these innovations across all relevant clients and markets
Stakeholder Alignment & Discovery
Act as the primary bridge between business teams (Finance, Sales, Delivery) and technical teams and ensure that the team’s roadmap, mission and progress is visible across the organization
Conduct detailed discovery to advise clients on the optimal ledger configuration, minimizing complexity and setup time for new migrations
Performance and Data Integrity
Use data to identify risks, reduce data inconsistencies and ensure financial audibility
Key Success Metrics & Outcomes
Your success in this role is defined by two areas of ownership. You will be responsible for balancing the roots beneath a beautiful forest (80%), which ensures our reliable, compliant system foundations, with the forest (20%) with the tall canopy, which enables capabilities that drive client differentiation.
Product Adoption & Innovation (Forest)
Drive the creation of new bookkeeping solutions (e.g., Credit Storage Ledger) and make sure it has a high adoption rate across all clients
Support new customer segments like Distribution to enable entry into new markets
Auditing & Compliance (Roots)
Ensure ledgers and transaction logs are auditable for all clients in various markets, with all history and records documented
Reduction in financial or billing-related complaints or discrepancies
Speed & Scalability (Roots)
Faster client migrations and setups through optimal ledger configuration by providing clear, streamlined guidance on ledger configurations
Requirements
Highly capable Individual Contributor who wants to become a domain expert
4+ years of experience in product management within a tech or SaaS environment
Strong understanding of product management methodologies, agile development, and user-centric design
Experience with financial systems (bookkeeping, accounting) and managing complex operational processes where data integrity is preferred
A strong technical background is a significant advantage (e.g., understanding of SQL, data architecture and database principles) to effectively manage robust financial transaction systems
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering teams.
Fluent in English is required
The ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and a curious mindset focused on continuous improvement and learning
Knowledge of the energy market or additional European languages is a plus
