About the role

  • Sr. Director of Engineering leading the Engineering function for Modifications and Upgrades business unit. Managing substantial teams and significant project agendas within Dematic's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a team of engineering leaders and principal engineers, encouraging a culture of inclusion and collaboration to deliver on goals
  • Drive the engineering team to deliver project scope by conducting site audits, designing, validating, ordering and then commissioning and testing
  • Ensure adherence to schedule, budget, and quality
  • Act as a primary point of escalation for project-related issues, ensuring swift resolution
  • Identify new business opportunities and direct sustaining engineering projects
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and business plans
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex challenges, recommending procedural changes as needed
  • Provide leadership on strategic business planning and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Degree in Engineering
  • 10 years successful experience in leading Project Management or Project Engineering teams
  • Demonstrates advance understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management
  • Proven experience in managing large teams and project execution including design, validation, commissioning and testing, systems integration, risk management, and team leadership
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical and controls systems as well as intermediate level understanding of software systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement innovative solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, of varying size, at the same time
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work weekends and holidays
