Sr. Hardware Engineer leading design and development of PCBAs for Teradyne in the Philippines. Balancing architecture design with project management and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
A Sr. Hardware Engineer leads the end-to-end design and development of PCBAs as well as product sustaining while providing technical guidance and mentoring junior staff
They balance hands-on architecture and circuit design with high-level project management, ensuring all products meet strict performance and reliability standards
Assist US Hardware engineering team in PCBA development, Sustaining and DISCON
Attend product development and critical kick-off meetings for initial product launch
Provide technical guidance to hardware engineers on PCBA development and Sustaining engineering
Direct the effort to find, simulate, and qualify a functional replacement for a critical IC, semiconductor or any electrical component that goes End-of-life (EOL)
Drive the validation of second-source components to prevent manufacturing line-down situations
Create complex board schematic designs based on customer requirements and specifications
Team up with hardware engineers to translate schematics into physical layouts
Perform pre and post PCB layout review to prevent or eliminate design issues such as crosstalk, reflections and voltage drops
Ensure that all designs are optimized for signal and power integrity
Mentor junior engineers and act as primary interface between cross-functional teams like firmware, mechanical and manufacturing
Travel when needed to North Reading Site to perform final product verification.
Requirements
A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
Typically 8 to 10 years of experience in PCBA hardware development, with at least 4 years specifically in sustaining and reliability roles
Preferably has knowledge in high-speed digital interfaces (DDR5, PCIe Gen5/6, Ethernet and RF/Analog Circuits)
Proficient in using PCB schematic and board layout tools and can manage complex constraints for differential pairs, length matching, and impedance control
Proficient in handling and using laboratory equipment and tools
Can perform Pre-layout and Post-layout SI/PI simulations to predict crosstalk, reflections, and voltage drops
Familiarity with IPC Class standards
Strong project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must possess a hands-on practical approach to problem-solving
Working knowledge of Teamcenter is a plus
