About the role
- MQ / Middleware Systems Engineer providing integration support for Federal Government customers while ensuring operational excellence and troubleshooting. Collaborate with various stakeholders and manage incidents, configurations, and automation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide key input and support into technical designs for various projects for our Federal Government customer.
- Report to MQ/Middleware Task Lead.
- Provide 24x7x365 via an on-call rotation for integration support for all Middleware components (including networking) and supported applications interfaces.
- Support configuration queue managers and brokers.
- Support efforts to automate operation and maintenance functions.
- Support patching and maintenance.
- Supporting Application team troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Engaging Vendor as required for technical support.
- Maintain the status of all tasks and projects in Jira and/or ServiceNow.
- Provide on-call incident and change request support according to the approved process/procedures, coordinating with Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) incident management staff, application owners, and technical SMEs as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Messaging Queuing
- 5+ years’ experience in Message Queuing (e.g. IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka, etc.) configuration and maintenance
- 5+ years’ experience providing incident, problem, and change management support for 24x7 infrastructure operations
- 5+ years’ experience in-depth experience of working in a 2nd/3rd line IT support or project delivery environment
- 5+ years’ experience within Middleware, JAVA, or related technology
- 2+ years’ knowledge of programming languages (e.g. JAVA, C, C++, and/or similar products)
- 1+ years’ experience with scripting and automation (Bash Shell, Korn Shell, Windows Batch, Etc.)
- XML Configuration and layout working knowledge
- JSON Configuration and layout working knowledge
- Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience
- Pursuant to a government contract, US Citizenship is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
