About the role

Responsibilities
- Develop and qualify materials for electrodes, bipolar plates, ion exchange membranes, and polymer components in flow battery stacks.
- Interpret analytical data from material evaluation techniques, including DMA, DSC, mechanical testing, and porosity testing.
- Develop understanding of material properties on performance, degradation mechanisms, and lifetime performance.
- Generate material characterization datasets for product design & process capability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing engineering, and supplier quality to integrate materials into commercial products.
- Support supplier identification and qualification and material specification documentation. Participate in material supplier PPAP activities.
- Contribute to failure investigations and root cause analysis for material-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in materials development and characterization, preferably in energy storage, flow batteries, or electrochemical systems.
- Strong knowledge of composites, polymer materials, and coatings.
- Define material defect criteria and ensure alignment with DFMEA and quality standards.
- Familiarity with electrodes, bipolar plates, and ion exchange membranes.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of material behavior.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
