About the role

  • Unit Claims Manager overseeing the processing of auto and property claims at Intact in Ontario. Supporting team development and ensuring high productivity and engagement in the Claims Investigative Services Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates the activities of the adjusters related to the processing of auto and property claims to achieve objectives in terms of commitment, management of excess costs, efficiency and customer service.
  • Contributes to the achievement of corporate and regional objectives by measuring team performance, ensuring quality of claims handling, level of compliance with standards, procedures and productivity.
  • Manage the activities of their team by organizing, planning and controlling the optimal use of human, financial and material resources according to the budget, while promoting teamwork and guiding their technical training.
  • Participate in the improvement of operational processes.
  • Make decisions for their team regarding the processing of claims and the payment of indemnities in accordance with company standards.
  • Review Investigation files and act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters and technical issues that may include investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiation.
  • Demonstrate your analytical acumen, decision-making skills and develop structured action plans.
  • Provide leadership and manage the operations of the Unit to achieve key business goals.
  • Work closely with the other Unit Claims Managers and employees in the Investigation Services Unit and Regular Markets to establish timely investigative decisions and act on Fraud Lead action plans.
  • Establish and maintain productive business relationships and effective communication with other units, including claims and distribution.
  • Review the work and final products of your team; provide coaching, feedback and/or training as required.

Requirements

  • 1 + years in a management role required
  • Experience in auto and property claims handling
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and mentor staff to achieve results and exceed targets.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented, capable of working in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Positive attitude while adapting to changing priorities and taking ownership of work
  • Willingness to enroll and complete Charted Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • University Degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
