About the role

  • Buyer responsible for procurement of goods and services at the Fraunhofer Institute. Consulting employees on procurement questions and steering procurement procedures in SAP.

Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for procuring goods as well as works and services in compliance with public procurement law.
  • You advise our employees on all matters related to purchasing and procurement and act as a competent point of contact.
  • You manage and support tendering procedures from the requirements analysis (in close coordination with the purchasing coordinators of the specialist departments) to the final commissioning in SAP.
  • You communicate and negotiate with bidders, including in an international environment, in German and, if required, in English.
  • You prepare the documents required for the procedure on e-procurement platforms and review and evaluate submitted offers in close cooperation with the scientific departments, taking responsibility for the audit-proof documentation of the procurement file.
  • Together with the institute’s legal contacts and central purchasing, you ensure legally compliant procurement for the institute.

Requirements

  • Completed technical or commercial vocational training with relevant further qualifications, or alternatively a completed degree with a technical or technical-business background.
  • Ideally, professional experience in technical purchasing and/or in a research and development environment, as well as knowledge of public procurement law.
  • Business-fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Self-motivation, strong communication skills and a confident presence.
  • The position is also suitable for career starters with relevant prior knowledge and experience from internships, academic projects or theses.
