About the role

  • Buyer managing procurement processes at the Fraunhofer Institute in Erlangen, Germany. Involves consulting, operational implementation, and compliance with public procurement law.

Responsibilities

  • You will handle the procurement of goods as well as works and services in compliance with public procurement law.
  • You will advise our staff on all matters related to purchasing and procurement and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact.
  • You will manage and support procurement procedures from needs analysis through final commissioning in SAP.
  • You will communicate and negotiate with bidders, including in an international environment, in German and, if required, in English.
  • You will prepare the documents required for the procedure on e-procurement platforms (eVergabe) and review and evaluate submitted bids.
  • You will ensure legally compliant procurement for the institute together with the institute’s legal contacts and central procurement team.

Requirements

  • Completed technical or commercial vocational training with job-related further education, or alternatively a completed degree with a technical or technical-business background.
  • Ideally, professional experience in technical purchasing and/or in a research and development environment, as well as knowledge of public procurement law.
  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Self-initiative, strong communication skills and a confident demeanor.
  • The position is also suitable for entry-level candidates/recent graduates with relevant prior knowledge and experience from internships, study projects or theses.
